Day Thirteen: In 1st, 3rd, 6th, and 7th the kids
continued to work on their essays. In 2nd we read aloud. In 4th and Lunch Molly
and I met and started to plan how to incorporate my online classes into the
classroom. It went really well. We reviewed my guidebook and she told me what I
am doing well and what I can work on and what we can do together. During 5th we
had a meeting with the 6th grade team and the principal. We discussed TCAP and
how eventually it will turn into the PARK test. We also talked about SB 191 and
what it will look like next year and the years to follow. This conversation was
really interesting because it will affect me! There was a discussion about
motivation and how to get kids motivated that don't show their skills on the
tests or in school? Later in the day a little boy kept on staring at me and I
had to get him back on task. While students were working on their essays Molly
and I worked on the Hero Interview Packet; discussing how to adapt it to the
proficient and advanced grading system. I taught 6th and 7th periods, which is
awesome because I am starting to take those two classes as my own! 7th can be
challenging because they have so many ideas and they all want to talk at the
same time.
Day Fourteen: On Tuesdays students have the
opportunity to meet with their teachers during Student Access. This morning we
had a student come in to improve his writing assessment grade. I got to work
one-on-one with him making sure he understood the expectation for this essay
and essays to come. Other students came in to work on the biography packet.
During Advisory we planned our Valentine's party! I'm excited for this; food
and valentine's crafts. The attendance question for the day is: If you were a Girl
Scout cookie what flavor would you be? A boy in 1st said, "I'd be a thin
mint because I'm fresh." A good Pandora station is Little People Radio
because it is mellow and doesn't have lyrics. In 2nd students answered the
question what special quality would your shoes have? Answers were: color
shifters, mood shoes, lightweight, and comfortable heels. Also, we had the kids
wear their right shoe on the left shoe! During 3rd Molly and I made Valentine's
for our Advisory kids. 4th team meeting with the counselors. We made plans to
help a student. It is great that everyone comes together. 5th period I worked
on some homework and helped Molly with some emails. 6th I helped a girl with
the graphic organizers. She filled them out wrong. It was frustrating because
in the days previous I went over the graphic organizers three or four times
each day. 7th I had to keep them on task because once again they wanted to chitchat.
Day Fifteen: Our morning meeting was with our SIT
team. We met with the GCSAPP team and talked about choicepass.org and how to
communicate health standards to the community. 1st, 3rd, and 7th watched a
movie on Joe DiMaggio. Molly and I did a lot of grading while the kids were
watching the movie. 5th IEP meeting and grading. Went to Wellness Wednesday
where we did Pilates. That was a lot of fun hanging out with other
teachers.
Day Sixteen: In Advisory we had our Valentine's Party. We made
valentine's bags and ate food. Valentine's cards and treats were passed out.
2nd: test students and then read for the rest of the period. Two boys were
messing around when reading in the library. They definitely can't handle being
near each other. 4th: plan for a kid to be tested for autism. Study Hall: We
had a ski talk; "We are your team and we are here for you!" 6th:
students watched the movie and we finished grading. Assembly: Each advisory
made skits to review the school PBIS. They were really fun and cute.
