Day Twenty-Eight: Today we started working on the Hero Interview Packet that the kids will be using for the HUGE Hero Project. This project will pretty much encompass the rest of the school year and will be a lot for the kids. But I am confident that the kids will accomplish this big task. It was great to have personal planning today. One thing that is important for teaching is to have that personal planning where so much can get done. I find that I am very productive and use the most of my time.
Day Twenty-Nine: Again, we continue to make the Hero Interview Packet. We are writing on huge poster paper so that we can hang them up around the classroom so that if students are gone they can come in and copy down what they missed. This is really awesome that we are doing this because we don't have to sit down one on one with kids that miss class, they can just copy down the posters and will be back in line with the rest of the kids. Today we had Team planning, which was awesome. I love this team and I look forward to when I am in a Team of my own.
Day Thirty: WOW I have been teaching for thirty days! Today we worked on the Hero Interview Packet in 1st and 7th period and we did PACE, which is an activity to do with the kids where it gets their minds thinking in different ways. In third period I was an interviewer for some 7th grade kids that were practicing interviewing for a class and for real life. Most of the interviews went great. Toward the end of 3rd period right before break Jim and Amy, two professors from WSCU, came to the classroom. It was so hectic and crazy in the classroom and I didn't know they were coming. I had just got back to the classroom and Molly went to give interviews and so we were switching rolls and class was ending. It was good for them to see me in action because I really was in action. As a teacher we are not supposed to show the kids that we are stressed or flustered. This is a huge key to success. I'm so thankful for my mentor, we are constantly getting to know each other and today we went on a walking adventure during our planning. She needed to go to the High School and drop off her taxes and so we walked everywhere chatting as we traveled. It was a really great time and she has so much information to share to me about teaching. So THANKFUL.
Day Thirty-One: In 2nd period, one of my favorite classes, we continued the building activity. I built and all the students were the scribes. Then each person read me the instructions they wrote and I build the structure. Then we discussed how we could describe the instructions better in order to have the same structure as the original. In 4th period we had Team planning which always seems to go smoothly. I like and dislike Study Hall. It is fun to see the challenges that the kids accomplished and at the same time it can get a little crazy having a lot of kids bring challenges to me. 6th period looked the same as 1st and 7th yesterday. At the assembly period I again was doing challenges.
WOW what a week. It is so fun and I still love it.
